Melissa and Hans run a busy household and need a helping hand with their 15 month old twin girls for up to 20 hours per week. They are an easygoing, fun and loving Australian - Swedish family who loves to spend time outdoors, going for bike rides, to the rock pool and watching family movies. They live in Sydney Northern Beaches, close to public transport, Narrabeen lake and the beach.
Melissa needs a second pair of hands with her twin girls a few days / hours during the week. She would be mostly at home especially at the beginning when you start in the role, but there may be times when you would be with the girls on your own, hence you need to have experience and be confident to take care of two toddlers on your own. Ideally, you would also have a disability/therapy support experience as one of the girls has Rubenstein Taybi Syndrome (development delay). This is not essential, if you are truly passionate about looking after children and you can see this role as an opportunity to expand your experience/skill set.
This role could suit a student as the role is up to 20 per week. Ideally, you would be able to commit to stay with the family long term, at least 6 months.
About the family & the role
Melissa & Hans have 5 children, but two eldest boys (19 & 17 years old) live with their grandmother. Apart from the twin girls, they also have a 9 year old.
Your responsibility would be mainly to give Melissa a helping hand with the twins, who are very pleasant and happy girls. Your role will involve taking girls or one girl at a time to a playground, playing with girls at home, helping with physio / therapy at home. In time, you may take the girls to a playgroup and/or swimming lessons.
Part of your role would be to also proactively help with light household duties, e.g. when girls are asleep, such as unpacking dishwasher, folding laundry and general home duties.
Your work hours & responsibilities
You will work for approximately 20 hours per week. This can be spread out over 3 or 4 days during the week in the morning/early afternoon e.g. 10am to 1pm, but the family is flexible with regards to time/days and can accommodate a student's schedule for the right person. They will also require babysitting on one Saturday a month.
The family offers $25-$27 hourly rate negotiable based on your work experience. You will need to have your ABN as you will be required to invoice the family for your work.
Key requirements for the role:
At least 21 years old
Comfortable with looking after twin toddlers
Responsible, proactive, mature and happy/positive
First Aid certificate (or happy to undertake the course) & WWCC
Drivers licence not essential.
